*** Colbert Testifies before Congress *** Today Steven Colbert testified in front of congress on the subject of legalizing immigrant farmworkers to reduce worker exploitation. His most memorable quote in the five minutes he had was “Apparently, even the invisible hand doesn’t want to pick beans.”
This was televised on C-SPAN 3. Apparently, they did not want Mr. Colbert to flood their ratings on C-SPAN 1 because I had no idea they actually had more then one channel. Having Steven Colbert on C-SPAN3 was the channels only hope of drawing in any kind of viewership.

As you can see, Congress was not amused. Duane Kim Baldwin 2010-09-24 16:08:14 *** CLEVAGE ON THE SESAME ST?! Say It Ain't SO! *** Katy Perry recently made an appearance on Sesame Street singing her hit singled 'Hot and Cold' with everyone's favorite Elmo. Of course she did change up the lyrics so that it would be appropriate for children. What has been causing a stir is the way she was dressed on the show.
Apparently, many parents are upset that Katy Perry was dressed too provocatively for young children. If you haven't seen it, I would suggest getting on YouTube and doing a search for it.
Did you see it?
Good! What did you think? My overall feeling is that YES she is dressed very sexy like she always does. BUT! Is it too sexy for children? I don't think so. Believe me, kids have seen boobs before - they are everywhere! I'm very good at noticing them casually.
Let the kids have their Sesame Street in peace and quiet.
Duane Kim Baldwin 2010-09-23 14:40:38 *** Zuckerberg Steals Social Network? *** What's being called "The Facebook" movie is generating a lot of media attention this week. The Social Network opens in October and is based off the six billion dollar website Facebook. Like, what seems 90% of the world, I too have a Facebook account - I also tweet (@enjoyduane) and I blog regularly on Tumblr (@enjoyduane).
I didn't really know the backstory to how Facebook began and I could only associate the site with it's nerdy creator Mark Zuckerburg. I had no idea, until this morning, that there are claims that Zuckerberg stole the idea of a social networking website from two brothers named Tyler and Cameron Winkelvoss. The brothersm since the launch of Facebook have sued Mark Zuckerberg and they have reportedly settled this dispute for $65 million some time ago. Since then, they have brought up the issue again and are suing Mr. Zuckerberg for a second time.
I can go either way with this case. Mr. Zuckerberg is a greedy little punk who stole the idea from these two brothers OR the two brothers are jealous and they want some more money. Either way, I don't really feel good about using the website anymore as a way to broadcast my life. I think Facebook, when used correctly - raising awareness or as a marketing tool is a great way to utilize the site. What I think the site has become is more of an ego feeder. A "look at me" type of website in hopes to generate a few "likes" from friends.
I would love to delete my facebook account - but then who would "like" me anymore? Duane Kim Baldwin 2010-09-21 10:59:56
